Laura McGiffert Slover
Chief Executive Officer
Laura McGiffert Slover is Parcc Inc.’s founding Chief Executive Officer. Prior to Parcc Inc., Laura was a high school English teacher and basketball coach in Eagle County, Colo., before she held various roles from 1998 – 2014 at Achieve, a bipartisan education reform organization, ranging from intern to Senior Vice President, where she managed the organization’s role in the development of the Common Core and other standards alignment projects. Laura earned her undergraduate degree from Harvard University, a Master’s degree in public policy from Georgetown University, and a Master’s in curriculum and instruction from the University of Colorado. A native Washingtonian, Laura was elected twice to the D.C. State Board of Education, serving from 2007 – 2014. She lives with her husband and daughter, who is in 4th grade at a District of Columbia Public school, and enjoys running, and volunteering for the National Outdoor Leadership School.
Chief of Staff
Lesley Muldoon is the Chief of Staff at Parcc Inc., where she leads the organization’s performance management and strategic plan implementation, while overseeing engagement with key stakeholders throughout the education field. She previously worked for Achieve beginning in 2007, focusing on both PARCC and a number of other initiatives, after four-years as a U.S. House of Representatives staffer. Lesley earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Maryland, and also holds a Master’s degree in public policy from Georgetown University. A native of Monmouth County, N.J., she currently resides with her family in Washington, D.C., where she enjoys cooking, spending time with her newborn child, and volunteering for the Lucky Dog Animal Rescue.
Chief of Assessment
Jeff Nellhaus is Parcc Inc.’s Chief of Assessment; in that position, he oversees the assessment policy, research and design of PARCC consortium content, as well as the licensing of it. He has worked for Parcc Inc. since 2011, when the work was part of Achieve Inc. Prior to joining Achieve, Jeff was the deputy commissioner of the Massachusetts Department of Education. A Boston native, Jeff completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Massachusetts, and holds graduate degrees from Harvard University and Antioch College; in the middle of his academic career, he also served as a Peace Corps volunteer in India. He currently resides in Washington, D.C.
Chief Financial and Administrative Officer
Vice President Business Development
Alison Schlesinger is Parcc Inc.’s Vice President of Business Development, responsible for identifying new business leads, with an emphasis on both recruiting new members to the PARCC consortium and expanding Parcc Inc.’s summative licensing efforts. She joined the organization in 2014, having previously worked as the Vice President of Marketing Strategy at Pearson, where she led marketing and strategy integration across the organization’s primary school-related divisions. Alison earned her undergraduate degree from Tufts University, and completed her Master’s in Business Administration at Columbia University. She currently resides in her hometown of New York City.
