What We Do
Bring assessments closer to classroom practice and change testing so it reflects good instruction.
Parcc Inc. is a non-profit organization that supports the Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers (PARCC Consortium), a group of states developing and implementing the PARCC assessment system, a high-quality set of summative assessments, mid-year and diagnostic assessments, formative tasks, and other support materials for teachers. The assessments and tools are aligned to college- and career-ready expectations (the Common Core) and allow for comparing results across states.
These assessments are a critical tool that helps measure student achievement, school performance and teacher effectiveness. They are also powerful tools that inform teaching and learning.
The PARCC K-12 assessments help build a pathway to college and career readiness by the end of high school and mark students’ progress toward this goal from third grade up. The 2017 administration window will mark the third year the assessments have been administered; this spring, students in six states, the District of Columbia, and schools managed by the federal Bureau of Indian Education and the Department of Defense Education Activity will take the assessments.
About the Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers Consortium
The Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers (PARCC) is a group of states working together to develop a set of assessments that measure whether students are on track to be successful in college and their careers. These high quality, computer-based K–12 assessments in Mathematics and English Language Arts/Literacy give teachers, schools, students, and parents better information whether students are on track in their learning and for success after high school, and tools to help teachers customize learning to meet student needs.
